There are four golf courses in Bridport, a small town on Tasmania’s north-east coast about an hour’s drive from Launceston, plus a fifth course a short drive inland. Three of them sit at Barnbougle, a links complex known around the world, while the other two are 9-hole clubs run by locals. This guide from Golficial covers each course’s layout, green fees and contact details to help you plan your trip and book a tee time.

1. Barnbougle Dunes
Barnbougle Dunes opened in December 2004 as the first course at Barnbougle. It was designed by American architect Tom Doak and Australian Mike Clayton, with the traditional links of Scotland and Ireland as the model. The course plays to a par of 71 at around 6,150 metres. It is grown with a mix of fescue and bent grasses that suit the coastal conditions.
The fairways are wider than most golfers are used to, but the firm, rolling greens demand careful approach play. The 4th hole has what the club describes as the largest bunker in the southern hemisphere. Wind is a constant factor, so the same hole can play very differently from one day to the next. Recent Google reviews praise the course condition and the views. A few visitors felt the service did not match the course.
The Dunes Clubhouse overlooks the beach and serves meals and drinks between rounds. There are practice facilities and lessons with teaching professionals. Rounds are on foot, with escorted carts only for golfers with a medical certificate. Pull buggies, club hire and caddies are available from the pro shop.
Under the 2026/27 high season rates (1 October to 30 April), Australian residents pay AUD 199 for 18 holes. All-day golf costs AUD 300 on one course or AUD 320 across both full courses. International visitors pay AUD 285 for 18 holes.

2. Barnbougle Lost Farm
Barnbougle Lost Farm opened on 10 December 2010, just across the river from The Dunes. It was designed by Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw. The course has 20 holes, all of which can be played in one round, and measures about 6,260 metres with a par of 72. US Golf Digest has ranked it among the top 25 courses in the world.
Lost Farm runs along the coast and then inland through dunes that are steeper than those at The Dunes. Strategic bunkers and rolling greens are balanced by wide fairways. Recent Google reviews describe it as slightly easier than The Dunes off the tee, but still a real test when the wind blows. Many visitors play both full courses on the same day.
The Lost Farm Lodge offers on-course rooms, and the complex runs a free shuttle between the two clubhouses. You can eat at the Lost Farm Restaurant or the more casual sports bar, which reviewers note serves mainly pizza. Like The Dunes, this is a walking course, with pull buggies, club hire and caddies available. Green fees are the same as The Dunes, from AUD 199 for 18 holes in the current high season.

3. Bougle Run
Bougle Run is Barnbougle’s short course, opened in 2021 and designed by Bill Coore. It has 14 holes, made up of 12 par 3s and two par 4s, for a par of 44. The course sits on tall dunes between the front and back nines of Lost Farm. Some of its tees are among the highest points of the whole complex.
Most holes measure around 80-110 metres, but the sloping ground makes club choice and shot shape important. Recent Google reviews call it great fun, and one golfer noted that six clubs are enough. One reviewer felt it was poor value compared with a full round at the main courses. A round takes about 90 minutes, which makes it a good option after a full 18 or for golfers short on time.
Under the current high season rates, Bougle Run costs AUD 110 for Australian residents and AUD 125 for international visitors.

4. Bridport Golf Club
Bridport Golf Club is a 9-hole course in town, about five minutes from Barnbougle across the river. The club was established in 1967 and is run entirely by volunteers. Alternate tees on each hole turn it into an 18-hole course with a par of 72 for men. Visitors can play every day, and members hold competitions on Saturdays.
The course has tree-lined, gently rolling fairways and well-kept greens. Recent Google reviews praise the quick greens and the helpful members. A couple of short par 4s tempt longer hitters to drive the green. The course can be dry and windy in summer. Several visitors suggest it as a warm-up round before heading to Barnbougle.
The clubhouse has a bar, and there is a putting green and a practice net. Green fees are low and can be paid by card on site. The club also has a local resident called Tripod, a three-legged echidna that is sometimes seen on the fairways.

5. Scottsdale Golf Club
Scottsdale Golf Club is a 9-hole public course in the town of Scottsdale, about 25 minutes’ drive south of Bridport. It is a useful option if you want a second local round away from Barnbougle. The course plays to a par of 70 over two loops, at 5,436 metres. It is fairly flat, with fairways lined by blackwood and Douglas fir trees.
Water comes into play on the 7th and 8th holes, where a large lake sits beside the line of play. The course has 10 bunkers in total. Recent Google reviews describe it as well kept for a country course, with several tight doglegs and tee shots framed by trees. One visitor noted that parts of the course open onto views of farmland.
Facilities are basic. The clubhouse opens during competitions or for group bookings, so plan to bring your own clubs. Members play on Saturdays and Tuesdays. Green fees are very low, with a recent visitor paying AUD 10 for 9 holes or AUD 15 for 18 holes. Payment is cash only, as the club does not accept cards or bank transfers.
