1. Mackay Golf Club<\/h2>\n

Mackay Golf Club<\/strong> is the city\u2019s main 18-hole course and celebrated its centenary in 2025. It started as a 9-hole course where Mackay Airport now stands, moved to Beaconsfield a few years later, and added its second nine in 1947. The course plays as a par 71 of 5,777 metres from the back tees.<\/p>\n

It is not long, but it rewards accuracy. Tree-lined fairways, bunkers around every green, and out-of-bounds or penalty areas on 11 holes keep you thinking all round, according to Australian Golf Digest. Highlights include the short par 3 6th and the drivable par 4 16th with water beside the green. Google reviewers praise the smooth greens and well-kept bunkers.<\/p>\n

The club has a pro shop, a junior programme and a bistro open 7 days, with Friday dinner and trivia nights. Visitors can book online up to 14 days ahead after registering as a public member. Green fees are not listed online, so call the pro shop on (07) 4942 1362 for current rates.<\/p>\n
