Equipment restrictions
Traditional steel-spiked shoes are prohibited during a round. Distance measuring devices may measure or gauge distance only. A player must not practise on the competition course before or between rounds.
Out of Bounds — Montgomerie holes
On the Montgomerie Course, areas to the right of holes 4, 9, 10, 11 and 13 are out of bounds. Course boundaries are defined by walls, fences or white stakes.
Relief and course conditions
Aeration-hole relief is available on the putting green under Rule 16.1. Staked trees require relief under Rule 16.1f when they interfere with the lie, stance or swing. Artificial roads, paths, bridges, notice boards, seats and shelters are immovable obstructions; marked GUR or white-lined areas are ground under repair.

Visitor and booking policies
Carton House offers visitor golf on the Montgomerie and O’Meara courses. Tee-time cancellations outside 48 hours receive a full green-fee refund; cancellations within 48 hours or no-shows incur 100% of the green fee. Buggies are not permitted on the courses from mid-October through April.
