Local Rules
Maximum score and competition transport
For the 2022 Club Championships, the maximum score was four over par per hole. Motorised carts were allocated only to players with a medical condition supported by a doctors note.
Preferred lies and GUR
During the Club Championships, a ball in a bunker could receive one-club-length relief, and one-club preferred lie was allowed on closely mown areas. All ground under repair was marked with painted white lines.
Penalty areas and course relief
Unmarked lakes, ponds and open watercourses were treated as red penalty areas, with the natural fall line defining the margin where no markers existed. Immovable rocks and artificially hardened roads interfering with play allowed free relief. Hoofprints, tractor tyre treads and molehills allowed one-club-length relief.
Distance markers and playing devices
Distance markers are measured to the front of the green: white indicates 150 metres and red indicates 100 metres. Distance-measuring devices are permitted for the Club Championships when they measure distance only.
