The mowing line defines the boundary of penalty areas and other no-play zones.
Penalty-area no-play zones
Penalty areas marked by red or yellow posts with a green top are no-play zones; relief must be taken under Rule 17.1e.
Unmarked no-play zones
Unmown areas, shrubbery, flower beds, new plantings and similar areas are no-play zones even when not separately marked; relief applies under Rule 16.1f.
