Local Rules
Out of Bounds
OOB includes ditches, fences, hedges, white boundary stakes, specified practice-ground posts, the 9th footpath, 10th safety netting and 12th-hole white posts.
Water Hazards
Yellow stakes/lines define water hazards; red stakes/lines define lateral hazards; bridges crossing hazards are in the hazard.
Protection of Young Trees
Staked or otherwise protected trees interfering with stance or intended swing require penalty-free relief under the immovable-obstruction procedure.
Stones in Bunkers
Stones are movable obstructions; if the ball moves while removing a stone, replace it without penalty.
Immovable Obstructions
Artificially surfaced roads/paths including wood-chip paths, white-lined adjoining areas, stone-filled drainage channels, and bunker sleepers/steps/boards are immovable obstructions; other paths/tracks are integral.
Obstruction Close to Putting Green
Extra line-of-play relief is available when an immovable obstruction is within two club-lengths of the green and ball, subject to nearest-point and hazard/green restrictions.
Aeration Holes
Penalty-free relief is available from aeration holes; drop through the green or place on the putting green, not nearer the hole; ball may be cleaned.
Distance Devices and Penalties
Distance devices may measure distance only unless otherwise stated; measuring other conditions breaches Rule 14-3 and is disqualification. Local Rule breach is loss of hole in match play or two strokes in stroke play.
