Out of bounds – paved road
A ball is out of bounds when it crosses a general paved road; the edge of the paving defines the boundary.
Integrated stone walls and ruins
Stone walls and ruins are integral parts of the course.
Motorized transport in competitions
Motorized transport is prohibited during a competition round unless permitted, subject to stated exceptions.
Red penalty area – hole 8
The red penalty area on the right of hole 8 is infinite when playing hole 8.
Ball hits power line – replay
If known or virtually certain, a ball that hit a power line must be replayed from the previous spot.
Electric boundary fence – relief
Free relief under MLR E-7 applies when the ball is within two club-lengths of the electric boundary fence.
Ground under repair – marked areas
Blue-staked or otherwise designated areas are ground under repair.
No-play zone – blue stakes with green top
Blue stakes with green tops define a no-play zone treated as ground under repair; Rule 16.1f applies.
White spray lines
A white spray line defines the boundary of ground under repair.
Washed bunker furrows
Bunker areas with deep furrows caused by running water are ground under repair.
Anthills
Anthills may be treated as loose impediments or ground under repair with free relief.
