Out of bounds — stakes, walls and stones
Out of bounds is defined by white stakes, walls and stones delimiting the course, with the boundary side specified by the document.
Penalty-area drop zone — hole 3
For a ball known or virtually certain to be in the red penalty area right of hole 3, the player must use the marked drop zone right of the fairway with one penalty stroke.
Penalty-area drop zone — hole 5
For the red penalty area right of hole 5, the marked drop zone left of the fairway is an optional additional relief option with one penalty stroke.
Ground under repair and immovable obstructions
White lines or blue stakes, bunker erosion channels, deep vehicle/machinery ruts and wild-boar damage are ground under repair; listed gravel areas and course fixtures are immovable obstructions.
White-and-green no-play zones
Areas marked with white-and-green stakes are no-play zones and require free relief under Rule 16.1b.
Integral objects and preferred lies
The stone wall at hole 3 tee, fountain structures at hole 7 and mill at hole 8 are integral objects. Preferred lies may be used in closely mown general area with a scorecard-length relief area unless the committee disallows it.
