Local Rules
Aeration and drainage
Relief is available under Rule 16.1b in the general area and Rule 16.1d on the putting green for aeration holes, slits, cracks or drainage channels, except where interference is only with stance or line of play as specified.
Abnormal course conditions
Rule 16 relief applies to the pump house by the 1st fairway, bridges on holes 4 and 5, the bell post on the 13th fairway, memorial stone on the 17th, exposed bunker lining, and drainage equipment, covers and fixtures.
Dropping zones
On hole 5, the nearest drop zone on either side of the penalty area behind the green is an extra relief option with one penalty stroke. On holes 10 and 15, a ball on the path bordering the green between the defined drop zones may be played as it lies or dropped in the nearest drop zone for free relief.
Out of bounds
Out of bounds: beyond boundary fences or ditches; the boundary left of the 15th bordering the 16th green; the clubhouse car park, entrance drive, flower beds, patio and practice areas; left of the 9th and 10th fairways; and the paddock right of the 17th.
Roads and paths
All roads and paths on the course, including those not artificially surfaced, are immovable obstructions from which free relief is available under Rule 16.1.
Penalty areas
Penalty areas are marked with yellow or red posts. Where a hedge and ditch are combined, the hedge is part of the penalty area; play a provisional ball under Rule 18.3 unless it is known or virtually certain the ball is in the penalty area.
Preferred lies
When preferred lies are announced, a player may lift, clean and place the ball within 6 inches on the fairway or closely mown area, no nearer the hole.
Young trees
Young trees protected by a stake or rabbit guard, or less than two club lengths high, are no-play zones; take Rule 16.1f relief when applicable.
