Local-rule penalty
Unless a local rule states otherwise, breach carries the general penalty: loss of hole in match play or two penalty strokes in stroke play.
Starter and course-supervisor instructions
Players must follow instructions from starters and course supervisors.
No stance-only relief
Relief is not granted when only the player’s stance is affected by an animal hole, mound or animal track.
Distance and course boundaries
Follow the current hole markings and posted temporary local rules; the club can publish special rules by notice or on its website.
Ground under repair
Ground under repair is marked by white circles and/or blue stakes; where both exist, the white line takes priority.
Out of bounds markings
Out of bounds is marked by white stakes, fences or white-marked trees; white lines take priority where they define the boundary.
Internal out of bounds on Yellow 4
When playing Yellow 4, the short-mown areas of Yellow 5 and Yellow 6 are out of bounds.

The most important decisions are procedural: identify which areas are out of bounds, recognise marked ground under repair and avoid treating practice areas as part of the playable course. Major Risks
Protected areas Biotopes and no-play zones can remove the direct line and require rule-based relief. Boundary holes Out of bounds affects holes 9, 10 and 13–18, including roads and paths on 17 and 18.

Regulations
Practice areas out of bounds
All practice areas, including driving ranges, putting greens and the pitching green with their associated surrounds or practice bunkers, are out of bounds.
