Local Rules
Out of bounds
Areas beyond the Committee boundary, perimeter fences, neighbouring property enclosures, stakes or white lines are out of bounds.
Overhead cables
If known or virtually certain that a ball hit an in-bounds power cable, the stroke is cancelled and replayed. Applies on North hole 7.
Animal near ball
An animal not defined as a loose impediment may be removed; if the ball moves, replace it without penalty.
Winter rules
Preferred lies/winter rules are not in force unless announced at the tee; when active, the relief area is one scorecard.
Boundary walls
A ball beyond the field-side edge of a boundary wall is out of bounds.
Roads as boundaries
A ball at rest beyond a road defining out of bounds is out of bounds, including when it rests elsewhere on the course.
Penalty area opposite margin
The opposite-equidistant margin option applies when a ball in a red penalty area last crossed a boundary coinciding with the field boundary.
Drop zones
A marked drop zone for a penalty area is an additional option with one penalty stroke.
Ground under repair
White/blue lines, blue stakes, GUR signs, deep machinery damage, gravel drainage trenches, turf seams and grass-covered cable trenches identify or qualify as GUR.
No-play GUR
Areas enclosed by white stakes with green tops are no-play zones and relief is mandatory.
Artificial paths
Artificial-surface roads and paths, including their edges and ditches, are immovable obstructions.
Embedded ball in bunker wall
No free relief is allowed for a ball embedded in a bunker wall formed by stacked turf, including artificial turf.

The North Course rewards placement and restraint: its shorter routing can invite aggression, but undulating ground, water and the club’s defined boundaries punish poorly chosen lines. Guadalmina North is the shorter, more undulating of the club’s two 18-hole courses, with water obstacles and a mature Costa del Sol setting. Major Risks
Protected areas Biotopes and no-play zones can remove the direct line and require rule-based relief. Boundary holes Out of bounds affects holes 9, 10 and 13–18, including roads and paths on 17 and 18.
Blue Tee Strategy
Treat marked boundaries and protected zones as strategic constraints. Use conservative targets near water and woodland edges. Keep the approach angle predictable on the undulating greens. Position first, then attack

Before tee-off Review the marked out-of-bounds holes, especially 17 and 18. Boundaries Never play from or enter a green-headed no-play zone.
