Electric fence boundary
The electric fence, including attached sheep netting, defines the boundary at the course-side edge of the fence posts at ground level.
Water hazard wall boundary
Where an artificial wall or piling surrounds a pond, the penalty-area margin is the inner edge facing the water.
Ant hills and gravel drains
Large or hard ant hills and gravel-covered drains are ground under repair, with free relief under Rule 16.1.
Distance-marker relief
All distance markers are immovable obstructions. Relief may apply when the obstruction is on the line of play near the green and both ball and obstruction are in fairway-height area.
Stopped robot mower
A stopped robot mower is an immovable obstruction from which free relief is available under Rule 16.1.
Electric fence out of bounds
The electric fence and attached sheep netting mark out of bounds at the course-side of the fence posts.
Artificial wall and pond boundary
The inner edge facing the water defines the penalty-area boundary where an artificial wall or stakes surround a pond.
Unmarked ponds are red penalty areas
All unmarked ponds are red penalty areas; the boundary is where the ground breaks downward into the depression.
Relief from electric fence
A ball within two club-lengths of the electric fence may receive relief under Rule 16.1 using the defined reference point.
Ground under repair
Blue-staked or white spray-lined areas, blue-green no-play zones, bunker washout, large ant hills and gravel drains are covered by the GUR rule.
Immovable objects and robot mower
Distance markers, connected white spray-line areas and a stationary robot mower are immovable manufactured objects; a specific line-of-play relief condition applies near greens.
Integrated objects
Artificial bunker liners and edges in their intended position, and unmarked dry drainage ditches, are integrated objects.
