Out of bounds holes 7 and railway
The fence on the right of hole 7 defines out of bounds. A ball crossing the railway and coming to rest on the other side is out of bounds even if it is on another part of the course.
Infinite penalty areas 16 and 17
The red penalty areas on the left of holes 16 and 17 are defined on one side only and extend infinitely.
Placing mat at hole 16
For a ball in or virtually certain to be in the penalty area left of hole 16, the player may use Rule 17.1 or, as an extra one-stroke option, place the ball on the marked placing mat.
