Out of bounds
Out of bounds includes boundary fences, the fence line and wall left of the 15th green, the mown practice ground right of the 13th and 14th holes, and the car park/white-post boundary around the 18th and clubhouse area.
Winter preferred lies
When the ball lies in the general area cut to fairway height or less, it may be placed within six inches of its original spot, no nearer the hole and in the general area.
Roads, paths and sprinkler heads
Artificially surfaced roads and paths are immovable obstructions with relief under Rule 16.1; fixed sprinkler heads also allow relief under Rule 16.1.
Power lines and pylons
If the ball hits a power line or supporting pylon during play of holes 11, 12 or 13, the stroke does not count and must be replayed without penalty.
Protected young trees
Young trees protected by stakes or canes are no-play zones; relief under Rule 16.1f is required when the tree or its interference affects the ball, stance or swing.
Residential property ball retrieval
Players may not retrieve balls that have come to rest on residential property, including areas beyond the road behind the 8th green and Little Temple beside the 15th green.
