Embedded ball
An embedded ball is treated under the embedded-ball rule through the green.
Environmentally protected penalty areas
Penalty areas marked with a green top are environmentally protected areas. The ball must be abandoned and played under the penalty-area rule; players may not enter to retrieve it.
Flowerbeds
All flowerbeds are treated as a free-lift area.
#3 Red penalty area
When a ball enters the first yellow penalty area across the fairway, the player may play from the original place, drop keeping the last-crossing point between ball and hole, or use the designated drop area.
Provisional ball at designated holes
A provisional ball may be played when the ball is thought to be in the yellow penalty area on #1 Gold, #8 Gold, #1 Blue, or #9 Blue.
#8 Gold drop area
For a ball in the yellow penalty area, the regular options remain available. If the ball enters left of the viaduct, the designated tee-side-of-creek drop area is an additional one-stroke option.
Distance-only rangefinders
Distance-only rangefinders are permitted for tournament and recreational play.
Stones in bunkers
Stones in bunkers may be treated as movable obstructions under the stated USGA local-rule reference.
Fescue areas
Fescue areas defined by the grass line are to be played as penalty areas.
Model Local Rule E-5
Model Local Rule E-5 is not in effect. Out of bounds and lost ball are played using stroke and distance.
Model Local Rule F-5
Relief from interference by an immovable obstruction close to the putting green and on the line of play is available under the stated Rule 16.1 conditions, including the two-club-length tests.
